Candidates discuss taxes, schools in chamber forum

SITKA, ALASKA Sitka voters this October will fill four municipal seats – two on the assembly and two on the school board.
The four candidates who have filed for those seats met for the first election forum of the season this week at the Sitka Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday (9-23-09).

Youth activists march for respectful, non-violent relationships

Sitka was one of 170 communities that took to the streets today for the Choose Respect March, a statewide effort to end domestic violence and sexual assault. In a 2012 victimization survey conducted in Sitka, 47% of adult women reported experiencing intimate partner violence, sexual violence, or both. more
