Interview: Jones Act does not specify length of foreign port calls

Sitka, Alaska Fred Reeder, of the Cruise Line Agencies of Alaska (in Sitka), says the threat to the SE cruise industry from a re-interpretation of the Jones Act could be avoided by defining a “foreign port call” as 8-10 hours, rather than the 48 proposed by US Customs and Border Protection. Sitka School Board President Lon Garrison is stepping down, after eight years on the board and five as its head. He’ll be moving to Juneau to take a position with the Association of Alaska School Boards. more
