Cruise Industry says it doesn't like passenger head tax

SITKA, ALASKA The fifty dollar cruise ship head tax that the state charges passengers that visit Alaska has hurt the industry. That’s what Fred Reeder, of Cruise Line Agencies of Alaska told the Sitka assembly last night (3-24-09) at its regular meeting.

Assembly passes marijuana law on first reading

As written, Sitka’s law would forbid marijuana consumption in public places, including restaurants and bars. But it leaves the door open to private cannabis clubs or cafes and allows the Assembly to consider exemptions for special events. more
