Officials say crew member who had flu won't spread illness

SITKA, ALASKA A cruise ship carrying a woman who had the H1N1 flu virus sailed into Sitka today (Tuesday). But state health officials say she’s recovered, and is not contagious. We talked with health official Jay Butler about the situation. Here's part of that interview.

Artesian well cleaned to improve flows; will be open tomorrow

The Forest Service temporarily closed the artesian well for system inspection last Wednesday (1-21-15). District Ranger Perry Edwards says the water was always safe to drink. The problem was that it was coming out too slowly. more
