School is out for another summer in Sitka

SITKA, ALASKA Sitka High School students celebrated the end of another school year with an ice cream social on Friday afternoon and kids are busily making plans for the next three months. Emily Schwing stopped by the high school to find out who’s doing what this summer.

The city of Sitka is struggling to pay off the Blue Lake Dam in a big way. The project was largely funded through bond proceeds. But due to a major decline in electric usage by Sitka customers, the city doesn’t have enough money to meet the bond payment. more
