Other active spawning has been seen in Thimbleberry Bay, wrapping around into Silver bay toward Sawmill Cove, as well as the Camp Coogan shoreline, Silver Bay near Herring Cove, and the areas around Galankin Island.
The department has observed that the spawn appears to be winding down along Halibut Point Road to Magic Island, but remains strong from there to the Cove. The department reports no active spawning as of Friday at Kasiana, Apple, or the Parker Islands.
There was a small spawn on Kruzof just to the north of Inner Point. Farther to the south there is still active spawning in Big Bay but no active spawn north of Dorothy Narrow. In Salisbury Sound there has been a fresh spawn on the eastern shoreline on top of where spawning had stopped a week ago.
Last year’s total spawn reach about 82 nautical miles.
Due to a computer error, ADF&G has been unable to publish an electronic version of the spawning map. They hope to have the problem corrected shortly.
