Sitka DDF posts wins; MEHS Braves set for “Battle of the Bridge”

Sitka High sophomores Ryan Apathy and Ben Gordon took first in Duo Acting at last weekend’s final regional meet in Haines. They say the team is in good shape for the state tournament in Anchorage. Mt. Edgecumbe basketball players Kacy Green (Jr-Hooper Bay) and Cody Sherman (Sr-Nome) say they’ll meet Sitka’s tough inside game with speed in tonight’s “Battle of the Bridge” at Sitka High.

Sitka lab issues shellfish advisory across Southeast

Shellfish in Southeast are showing a high risk for biotoxins, specifically those that cause PSP. On Monday (5-25-16), the Sitka Tribe of Alaska's Environmental Research Lab (STAERL) found elevated levels of toxins at beaches in Sitka, Petersburg, Klawock, and Craig. more
