Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka graduated 89 students on Thursday (5-3-12) in the Sitka Performing Arts Center. September Campbell-Burkett delivered the Salutatory Address; Abigayle Fisher was Valedictorian. Graduating students hail from all across the state: From St. Paul Island to Nanwalek, Kwethluk, Koyuk, Bethel, and Hoonah (to name a very few!). Nice work grads — and keep smiling!

Assembly considers vehicle tax to fund roads

Sitka’s car owners may soon see a fee increase. The assembly voted 5 to 1 Tuesday night to raise vehicle registration fees. Money raised through the tax would go towards the city’s roads. more
