Kotzebue resident and recent Mt. Edgecumbe High School graduate Teressa Baldwin (center) is congratulated by NY Giants quarterback and 2012 Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning (l) on winning a Prudential Spirit of Community Award at a ceremony in Washington, DC on Sunday (5-6-12). Baldwin and Keefer Brown, of Wasilla (r) were Alaska’s honorees: Baldwin, for starting a nonprofit to combat teen suicide, and Brown, for fundraising work to rehabilitate seals at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. In addition to the all-expense paid trip to DC and face time with a sports superstar, Baldwin and Brown each took home $1,000.

Rachel Waldholz is the Reporter for Raven Radio - KCAW. And after two years and countless stories, today is her last day on the job. In September, Waldholz will join the APRN as a roving, state-wide reporter on energy issues in Alaska. Beginning Monday, August 31st, Melissa Marconi-Wenzel will return as Morning Edition Host.
