Forest Service, conservation groups bet on river restoration

Over thirty years ago, the Sitkoh River watershed on Chichagof Island was logged, damaging the local salmon habitat. Now, the US Forest Service is partnering with environmental groups to restore the river -- and they say the project is a perfect example of broader changes taking place on the Tongass.

Like a curtain opening, the clouds lifted and a longish stretch of dreary weather ended just as Sitka Summer Music Festival musicians tuned up for a noontime concert in Sitka National Historical Park on Wednesday (6-20-12). Historical museum to exhibit “Sitka in Writing”

Jackie Fernandez, curator of the Sitka Historical Museum, discusses her next community curating exhibit entitled "A Community Composed: Sitka in Writing."
