The bear cams at Brooks Camp in Katmai National Park & Preserve were restored at 12:01 this morning (7-24-12), providing hours of mesmerizing fun for internet viewers around the globe. The project is a joint effort of the Annenberg Foundation and Explore.org. This cam is pointed at Brooks Falls.

Perlin: The “geography of hardship” in America

Ross Perlin is a writer and linguist from Brooklyn, NY, and the author of Intern Nation: How to Earn Nothing and Learn Little in the Brave New Economy. Perlin is one of eight members of the inaugural class of Sitka Fellows, who will be working in Sitka on the SJ Campus for seven weeks. His new project will examine the Third World inside America's borders. He spoke with KCAW's Robert Woolsey.
