Welcome Rebecca!

Meet Raven Radio’s new Program Coordinator, Rebecca LaGuire. Rebecca is the daughter of Michael and Jackie LaGuire, was raised in Sitka and attended both Mt. Edgecumbe and Sitka High School. She began volunteering at Raven Radio through the “Gender Equity Program” a non-traditional Teen Center career program in 1997. Rebecca attended the University of Alaska Southeast and then earned an Associate in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Seattle and has worked primarily in the commercial photography industry. Rebecca brings experience and skills in managing, training and scheduling community groups, project management, technical development and team leadership. After living briefly in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she recently moved back to Sitka and returned to radio straight away. We are excited to welcome Rebecca back into the Raven Radio family.

School board forum brings out competing ideologies

Sitka’s municipal election is Tuesday, October 6, and for the first time in recent memory, the school board is the race to watch. The five candidates met in a 90-minute election forum on Raven Radio last Thursday night. more

Tuesday, October 6, is election day in Sitka for assembly and school board. Because of construction work at Harrigan, Precinct 1 voters will cast ballots at Grace Harbor Church on HPR across from SeaMart. Precinct 2 voters at St. Gregory’s on Lincoln Street. If you’re unsure, you can vote at either location using a question ballot. And when you want to find out who's won, tune in Raven Radio for live election returns beginning at 8 PM. Click on the precinct map to make it larger, and if you have any questions about which precinct you are in, or anything about the elections, you can call Municipal Clerk Sara Peterson at 747-1811. more
