2012 Sitka Municipal Election: The Numbers

Here are the official results from the 2012 Sitka municipal election, following the count of 399 absentee and question ballots on Friday, October 5.

MAYOR
100% of precincts reporting

Thor Christianson: 466 (19.0%)
Mim McConnell: 1149 (46.8%)
Cheryl Westover: 818 (33.3%)
Write-ins: 21 (0.9%)

ASSEMBLY
100% of precincts reporting

Phyllis Hackett: 1,509 (23.4%)
Matt Hunter: 2,064 (32%)
Dallas Peavey: 799 (12.4%)
Michelle Putz: 1053 (16.3%)
Aaron Swanson: 955 (14.8%)
Write-ins: 73 (1.1%)

SCHOOL BOARD
100% of precincts reporting 

Cass Pook: 1,965 (72.0%)
Jennifer Robinson (write-in): 573 (21.0%)

News broke over the weekend that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Byron Mallott may be combining his campaign with that of Independent Bill Walker. In Sitka recently, Mallott argued the key issue in November is whether Alaskans' voices will be heard in state government, and said Walker remains, on social issues, a "conservative Republican." more
