Holiday Brass celebrates 9th season in Sitka

Roger Schmidt, executive director of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp, discusses the 9th Annual Holiday Brass Concert, 7PM Monday (12-17-12) at the Sitka Performing Arts Center. Top brass musicians from San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle will join Schmidt for the concert. Tickets sold in advance at Old Harbor Books or at the Fine Arts Camp office.

The Naa Kahidi Dancers performed at the Sheet'ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi on Saturday to celebrate the group's 20th anniversary. The Naa Kahidi Dancers were founded in 1994 by Chuck Miller, who began dancing when he was three years old, in the Sitka Native Education Program. "When I dance, when I put on my regalia, it feels like my ancestors are running through my veins," he said. more
