Tsunami warning cancelled

The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center cancelled tonight’s tsunami warning for all coastal areas of Southeast Alaska shortly before 2 AM (1-5-13). Sitka fire chief Dave Miller has ordered the evacuation to stand down.

A tsunami wave of .3 feet was generated in Sitka. Some areas may continue to observe small sea level changes.
