Garry White, executive director of the Sitka Economic Development Association, explains the second annual economic forum, to be held April 16 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall. He’s joined by Steve Reifenstuhl, vice president of the SEDA board. The idea of the forum is for members of the community to share ideas on how to stabilize and grow Sitka’s economy.

Sitka to sell several properties to Silver Bay Seafoods

Sitka will sell off a significant portion of its land at the Gary Paxton Industrial Park. The Assembly approved the sale at its meeting Tuesday night. It’s the first of what may be several sales at the former pulp mill site. more

Artesian well cleaned to improve flows; will be open tomorrow

The Forest Service temporarily closed the artesian well for system inspection last Wednesday (1-21-15). District Ranger Perry Edwards says the water was always safe to drink. The problem was that it was coming out too slowly. more
