ATIA conference will be Sitka’s largest-ever

Tonia Rioux, executive director of the Sitka Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, says this October’s meeting of the Alaska Travel Industry Association could be Sitka’s largest-ever conference. Floor sessions exceed the capacity of Harrigan Centennial Hall, and will be held in the Hames Center. Local volunteers are needed. Call the SCVB at 747-5940 to help. When the Sitka Assembly meets tonight (10-25-16), they’ll focus mostly on funding decisions: what to save, what to spend, and how. That includes a transfer to the Public Infrastructure Sinking Fund, which pays for city roads and sidewalks, and expenses related to the August 2015 landslide. more
