Sitka 2013 Election: FINAL unofficial results

Tuesday, October 1, 2013 is municipal election day in Sitka. Voters in the community went to the polls to elect two assembly members, one school board member, and to decide one ballot proposition.
Here are the FINAL unofficial results from the day’s balloting:

Aaron Swanson — 668
Benjamen Miyasato — 639
Steven Eisenbeisz (write-in) — 583

NO — 350
There are 77 absentee ballots to be counted no later than Friday, October 8. Because only 1 ballot has yet to be received, election officials may choose to count absentees sooner.
By the end of its meeting Tuesday night, the assembly had decided not to offer rebates for homeowners who install energy-efficient heat pump systems in their homes. But their path to that decision had less to do with heat pumps than with concerns about the city’s long-term electricity use. more
