He wasn’t just enjoying the view of Sitka Channel though, he was editing a news story. Rich has been volunteering in the News Department for the last several weeks, filing stories from the ATIA conference among others. Nomination close Friday for BP Teachers of Excellence

Tara Stevens, Associate Director for Government & Public Affairs with BP, discusses the company's teacher recognition program, BP Teachers of Excellence. Nominations are open through Friday, Januar 30. Nomination forms can be found online here. There have been two recent Sitka winners, Christy Anderson (2014) and Michael Mahoney (2012), both from Mt. Edgecumbe High School. Stevens is hoping to see more nominations from Sitka this year. Thirty-three teachers will be recognized in the 20th anniversary year of the program. Downloadable audio. more

New Sealaska logging sites near earlier cuts

Sealaska says it will begin logging its new lands later this year. The first parcels cut will be on Prince of Wales Island and the Cleveland Peninsula. more
