Sitka celebrates International Education Week

Rotary exchange student coordinator Shannon Haugland discusses International Education Week, along with AFS student Daliya Tazeyeva, from Russia. A presentation on how to become an exchange student will happen Thu Nov 14, 7 PM Sitka High Library. The film “Promises” will be screened Fri Nov 15, 5:30 PM at the Coliseum Theater.

Wildlife troopers shot and killed a brown bear sow and her two cubs in a Sitka neighborhood late this week (10/20/16). While it’s not the first report of an aggressive bear near downtown, the three were the first animals destroyed this year for public safety. Downloadable audio. more
