Sitka marked the 147th anniversary of the Alaska transfer on Saturday (10-18-14), with a boisterous parade and a period reenactment of the historic exchange on Castle Hill.

Ron Conklin and Jay Sweeney took on the roles of Aleksei Peshchurov and Lovell Rousseu, who formalized the sale at a cool $7.2 million ($119 million in 2014 dollars).

KCAW’s Emily Kwong followed the celebration, as it wound down Lincoln Street and back in time.
