If you’ve got Holiday Fever, Sitka’s National Honor Society has a remedy for you: An icy cold dip in the ocean.

Several dozen die-hard Sitkans turned out on a cold, wet solstice weekend (12-20-14) to cool their heels – and many other body parts – in the community’s annual Polar Dip. The dip originally began as a wellness event, but it’s now a fundraiser for the Sitka High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. KCAW’s Rich McClear reported on the Dip last year from the beach. This year, however, in the spirit of community engagement, McClear went all in, and sent this audio postcard.
