Zuill Bailey, the Artistic Director of the Sitka Summer Music Festival, was joined by Dr. Melissa Kraut, a co-founder of the Sitka Cello Seminar. In its second year, the seminar brings together promising cello students and cello instructors for 13 days of intensive cello study. The seminar is hosted at SSMF’s newly acquired Stevenson Hall.

Benjamin Francisco, one of the eight students participating in the seminar, talks about a day in the life and combining a love for the outdoors with music. Francisco is working towards a degree in Cello Performance at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.

The seminar’s Cellobration, a final concert, will take place on Sunday, July 12 at 7:30 pm at the Odess Theater at Allen Hall. $10 tickets are available at Old Harbor Books and at the door.
