Leslie Fulton, the Quality Improvement Director, was joined by Physical Therapist Bridget Hitchcock to talk about an upcoming pain management class at Sitka Community Hospital. Fulton has been leading a quality improvement project for the pain management program at SCH. She talks about how treating pain has evolved in the medical industry, particularly in response to a dramatic rise in opioid abuse and overdose. Hitchcock’s class will elucidate the physiology of pain and how to manage pain without drugs.
The 2-part class will be offered by Hitchcock every other month from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the the hospital classroom. This month’s class will be held September 16 and September 23.
