As of Tuesday morning (3-22-16), ADF&G has mapped 6.8 nautical miles of herring spawn. This is an increase of 4 miles in 24 hours.

As of Tuesday morning (3-22-16), ADF&G has mapped 6.8 nautical miles of herring spawn. This is an increase of 4 miles in 24 hours.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game mapped an additional 4 miles of herring spawn during its morning survey today (3-22-16), bringing the total now to nearly 7 miles. Herring seiners have done well so far — having landed 8,600 tons in two openings — but 6,170 tons remain on this year’s quota, and spawning is increasing rapidly.
