Deserted Island loud and quiet

Peter Williams

Peter Williams played the 10 songs he would choose to have on a deserted island this past Friday night. Along with the great music, Peter brought the recipe for a traditional frozen dessert along with plenty of stories:being an artist in Sitka, Stardust Ball performances (he was one of the award winning Village People in 2004), and hunting for marine mammels. Here is Peter’s playlist, the dessert recipe and a recording of the show… more

Valerie hates monkeys!

Valerie Lapinski

But she doesn’t mind rats so much. Valerie Lapinski, former Raven Radio Program Director was a long distance guest castaway on “Deserted Island” on Friday, March 15th 2013. She called in from her home in Brooklyn and describe the process of choosing just 10 songs to have if stranded, possibly forever, as “agonizing.” Well, Val’s pain is our gain, because this is an excellent selection of music…and the dessert is a tantalizing combination of sweet and salty cookie yummy. Beware: the cookies may inspire spontaneous marriage proposals! Here is a recording of the show, a list of Val’s 10 songs and the dessert recipe. more

Of course she also brought in a dessert recipe to share, because it is always better to have a sweet something when dancing on your island. Here is a recording of the show, a list of Trista’s music and the a recipe for an exquisite chocolate tarte~ more

We’re lucky to have Amanda in the community and we all got to know her a little better when she agreed to share her wishlist if she was shipwrecked on a “dessert-ed” island with only ten songs and one dessert to fill her days. more

Van Hanson’s Top Ten

van mug shot

Van Hanson is a busy fellow: songwriter, musician, board game designer and creator/director of Sitka’s 48-hour Film Festival. We’re glad that he found time to pick the ten songs that he’d choose to have with him on a deserted island. He also chose his grandma’s strawberry rhubarb pie, but get this – the recipe is secret – so you’ll have to go straight to the source because we can’t post it here. Here are his songs, and the show. more
