Rachel Waldholz is the Reporter for Raven Radio - KCAW. And after two years and countless stories, today is her last day on the job. In September, Waldholz will join the APRN as a roving, state-wide reporter on energy issues in Alaska. Beginning Monday, August 31st, Melissa Marconi-Wenzel will return as Morning Edition Host. Rich McClear celebrated 50 years of radio today on the Good Day Show! Rich was a Raven Radio founder, as well as its first General Manager. He said his family wanted him to go to law school and he had been accepted, but when he got to the mail box to mail the check, he turned back around and said, “I can’t do this. I want to be a Disc Jockey.”

Thirty-three years ago today, March 6, 1982, Raven Radio KCAW signed on as your community radio station. And it all started with a lone voice, cast out in to space in the hope that someone - anyone - was listening. Thank you to all our listeners, from Yakutat to Port Alexander, Sitka to Kake, Pelican, Elfin Cove, Tenakee, and Angoon, who keep Raven Radio thriving.
Since Studio Xeno was added to the downstairs of the Cable House, the plan has been to put in an "On Air" light to indicate when someone was recording inside. We're excited to say our light is now in place above the door to the studio!
