According to the criminal complaint from state troopers, the victim was aboard his boat tied to the float in Elfin Cove when Lewis approached him, talking in an agitated manner, and reportedly said he was going to kill him.

Lewis allegedly reached inside his jacket and began to remove a revolver. The victim responded by telling Lewis to put the gun away. A further exchange of words led the victim to believe that his life was in danger.

Lewis was about three feet away from the victim during the incident. He subsequently walked away.

State troopers later contacted Lewis who admitted talking to the victim, but denied making any threats. He was taken into custody, charged, and released on $500 bail.

Lewis’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 10 at 3:30 PM in Sitka. He’s being represented by the public defender.

Lewis may not leave Sitka or Juneau pending trial. He also may not possess any firearms.
