Pelican voters appear to have chosen a new mayor. Incumbent Patricia Phillips trails challenger Clint Bean by ten votes, 29 to 19, with 24 absentee ballots outstanding.

On the Pelican city council, Tom Andrews has won a seat with 42 votes. Tom Reinke is the apparent winner of the second council seat, but he leads the third-place finisher by only four votes.

Pelican voters put Vance Ady-Wirta and Amber Anselm on the school board. Absentee votes will be counted in Pelican on Friday.

Angoon voters also filled two seats on their city council. Seat “A” has gone to Edward Jack, Sr. with 89 votes. Rocky Estrada, Jr. has taken Seat “B” with 91 votes. Angoon’s results remain unofficial until the election is certified on Monday, October 11.

A total of 21 votes were cast for city council in Port Alexander – all of them write-ins. Mike Dové was top vote-getter with 15 votes. Other candidates in double-digits were Bill Luedke, Molly Kimzey, and Ryan Martin – all with eleven votes each. Debra Gifford and Cory Gifford each polled 10 votes.

There were three question ballots and one absentee ballot in Port Alexander.

Elections were also held Tuesday in Kake and Tenakee. KCAW will report on those results as soon as they are available.
