Payback! Lady Braves take out 2010 rivals in volleyball rematch

The Mt. Edgecumbe Lady Braves powered their way to the state 3A volleyball championship over the weekend. Edgecumbe defeated Grace Christian in 3 straight games at the Menard Sports Center in Wasilla on Saturday (11-15-11) to take the title, a mirror image of last year’s heart-breaking loss.

Lake levels renew call for conservation

On Nov. 9, Green Lake was 19 feet below full – no change from the week before – and Blue Lake was 13 feet below full. That’s a drop of one foot from the week prior. The city anticipates it will need $1.6 million in diesel fuel to keep up with demand for electricity.
