Idaho State University researchers Nick Clement and Robert Schlader are in Sitka scanning the bones of a young killer whale as part of an online inventory of northern mammals. The complete skeleton will be articulated and mounted in the Sitka Sound Science Center. The public is welcome to stop by the Science Center and watch. The scanning is happening upstairs. Visit the Virtual Zooarcheology of the Arctic website to see the existing database. To learn more about digital scanning, visit the Idaho Virtualization Lab.
