Curators experience culture in Sitka

Sarah Owens is a Fellow in textile conservation, Peter McElhenney is a Fellow in objects conservation, and Rebecca Summerour is a graduate intern in textile conservation -- all with the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC. The trio are participating in the Conservator Field Research Project, which offers museum professionals a chance to learn about Native culture in context. Their host in Sitka is renowned Sitka textile artist Teri Rofkar.

Business Week: Not a typical summer camp

Yakutat festival features Native DNA research

The Genographic Project is looking for volunteers at this year's Yakutat Tern Festival. Through DNA samples and genealogical interviews, the project aims to study human movement around the globe and links between different populations.
