The Sitka Sound Ocean Adventure Race happens Saturday. It’s now in its sixth year. The paddling/rowing contest starts at the UAS boat ramp and has courses ranging from 6 miles to 14 miles. Signups are at the Fisherman’s Quay office. The Change Your Latitude 57-degree North Open-Water Challenge is the northernmost sanctioned open-water swim in the country — perhaps even the world, organizers say. It happens Sunday.
