Maple recovers wayward weather buoy

US Coast Guard Cutter Maple retrieved the Cape Edgecumbe weather buoy last week (8-30-12), after the errant instrument spent six days adrift in the Gulf of Alaska. The buoy was only about ten miles off station, dutifully transmitting weather and ocean conditions as it slowly cruised north and west in the balmiest seas of the summer. Last time the Cape Edgecumbe buoy broke loose – in winter – it drifted 400 miles before anyone caught it.

Transmitter Repaired

Raven Radio's transmitter was fully repaired last night while turned off from 10pm to midnight. Not only is the electrical problem fixed, but the engineer had time to make some adjustments that will make the signal clearer and stronger. Sorry if your radio alarm was louder than you expected this morning! It will stay that way, which is much better for all involved once you adjust your radio's volume levels.
