Grand Camp honors Soboleff, focuses on Native vote

The 100th anniversary Grand Camp Convention of the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Alaska Native Sisterhood opened in Sitka this morning (10-3-12). Hundreds of delegates from around Southeast were in attendance. They heard a presentation on the power of the Native vote, and established "Walter Soboleff Day."

Here are election returns from Angoon, Kake, Pelican and Tenakee Springs. Most of these cities still need to canvass their votes. That includes a significant amount of absentee ballots that could change the result in Tenakee Springs.

One-day Drive, raffle, and Stardust: Let the noise begin!

KCAW general manager Ken Fate and development director Amy Kramer-Johnson outline plans for this Friday's (10-5-12) for Raven Radio's One-Day Fund Drive. Alaska Airlines raffle tickets will remain on sale through Alaska Day (10-18-12). Stardust Ball tickets will go on sale for Raven Radio members on October 11 (at the station, in person or by phone 10AM - 5PM, 907-747-5877), and for the general public on October 12 (at Old Harbor Books).

Petersburg elections, schools locked down when domestic violence incident spills onto streets. ANB/ANS to revive traditions at Centennial Grand Camp in Sitka.
