Sitka election unchanged after absentee count

Absentee ballots were counted in Sitka this afternoon (10-5-12), with no change in the outcome of last Tuesday’s municipal election.In fact the front runners in both the mayor and assembly races expanded their leads.

Grand Camp honors Soboleff, focuses on Native vote

The 100th anniversary Grand Camp Convention of the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Alaska Native Sisterhood opened in Sitka this morning (10-3-12). Hundreds of delegates from around Southeast were in attendance. They heard a presentation on the power of the Native vote, and established "Walter Soboleff Day."

Election returns from the KCAW listening area

Here are election returns from Angoon, Kake, Pelican and Tenakee Springs. Most of these cities still need to canvass their votes. That includes a significant amount of absentee ballots that could change the result in Tenakee Springs.

One-day Drive, raffle, and Stardust: Let the noise begin!
