Alaska Day: Just like it was in 1867, and some new traditions

On Friday(10/18/13), Steve Dalquist made sure Sitka upheld long-practiced Alaska Day traditions. He started the day early, first by raising the Russian flag on Castle Hill. Then he retrieved the canon that would lead the 9th infantry reenactors in the Alaska Day parade.

The hoop skirts, petticoats and decorative hats let you know that they share the same mission: getting visitors psyched for Alaska Day.
