Sophie Nethercut and Sarah Komisar of the Sitka Conservation Society were joined by Aaron Prussian, a local cyclist, to talk about this Saturday’s (05-23-15) community bike ride and cookout.

The three talk about the environmental benefits of biking and offer tips for bike maintenance. The event is the capstone event for Sitka’s celebration of National Bike Month.

The event begins at 1:30 p.m. at Crescent Harbor Shelter, with free bike maintenance. The bike ride begins at 3 p.m. with a loop around downtown and then continues to Halibut Point Recreation area, where food and a bike maintenance demonstration will take place. Bike decorations are encouraged.
