The Raven Radio Foundation Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Rebecca “Becky” Meiers has been hired as the new general manager for Sitka’s community radio station.

Tune in Monday, September 17th at 8:16 a.m. to hear from Meiers herself. She is our guest on the Morning Interview!

Meiers, who will be relocating to Sitka from Portland, Oregon for the position, will be the organization’s first leader hired from outside the organization since Raven Radio was established in 1982, and the sixth manager in the history of the station.

The announcement follows a search process that lasted for more than a year. “We were willing to be patient to find the right person,” explains board chair Gretchen Clarke. “Fortunately, we have an extremely capable staff that has maintained our high standards for news and programming during this period of transition. We are grateful for the support from staff, volunteers and donors that have enabled us to take our time in hiring, and we are all looking forward to the skills and creativity Becky will bring to KCAW.”

Meiers currently works as Development Director for KBOO, a non-commercial community radio station in Portland, Oregon. She also volunteers for several other media organization. In the past, she has worked as a radio announcer, administrative professional and teacher of English as a second language overseas. She speaks French and Korean in addition to English. Meiers earned a Bachelor of Art degree in photography. She is a voracious reader and enthusiastic player of role-playing and board games.

Her first day of work will be October 15th. We thank interim general managers Robin Sherman and Lily Herwald for their service in the past year.
