Officials reported two new coronavirus cases in Sitka on Monday (9-28-20).


One young person between the ages of ten and 19 was tested on Sep. 26, according to data provided by the city. She had symptoms at the time of testing. Her case is classified as “secondary,” meaning she had known contact with another person who tested positive. 

The second patient is a woman in her fifties. She had symptoms when she was tested on Sept. 26. Her case is tied to community spread. 

This makes six cases that are currently active in Sitka, according to city data. The city’s alert level has gone up to “moderate” and alert levels for both Mt. Edgecumbe High School and the Sitka School district have increased.
