The Sitka Assembly meets tonight (10-26-20) with an unusually short agenda.

At the beginning of the meeting, it will recognize November as Native American Heritage Month.

Then it will consider reallocation of leftover grant funds toward work on the  Green Lake Dam. According to a memo from Utility Director Scott Elder, the city secured $770,000 in grant funding from the state for feasibility study into a hydro project at Takatz Lake.

The leftover money from that grant is just under $400,000, and has finally been approved to go toward the first phase of rehabilitating Green Lake. The aging hydroelectric plant is one of Sitka’s top infrastructure priorities.

In other business, it will consider several appointments to commissions and committees, and will hear an update from City Administrator John Leach on the CARES Act Working Group’s progress.

The Sitka Assembly meets at 6 p.m. tonight. Raven News will broadcast the meeting live, following Alaska News Nightly.
