No.

Store owner I cater to the public and volunteer money and time to the moose charities.

Why are you running for a seat on the Sitka Assembly this year?

To make a difference in the community and to give the people back their voice.

What are your top priorities if elected?

Collaboration with current assembly members to build a stronger more sustainable future for all community members and businesses and visitors.

To address our housing deficit and the high cost of living and high energy costs.

To work towards putting our money back into the community for sustainability.

Ballot Propositions

Proposition 1: This fall, voters will consider a ballot initiative to amend the city’s Home Rule Charter and direct future surplus revenue from the Sitka Community Hospital Dedicated Fund toward new and revitalized athletic and recreational facilities. Do you support this proposal? Why or why not?

Yes

Proposition 2: Sitkans will vote on a ballot measure this fall that would require future citizen initiatives to include economic impact studies, paid for by the initiative’s sponsor. Do you support this proposal? Why or why not?

Yes I think this would fall under transparency.

Tourism

Last year, the Sitka Assembly approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the local cruise ship operator. Is that MOU working? Are there any changes you would propose?

It seems to be working better this year than in the past couple years.

What other steps should be taken, if any, by the Sitka Assembly to address Sitka’s tourism growth? Please explain.

I feel there needs to be better crosswalks for the visitors and possibly some better signage.

I feel our downtown needs to be more inviting. We could do better as far as expanding our business sector maybe even put out some planter boxes to have that curb appeal.

I feel there needs to be more adequate restrooms due to most businesses do not have a public restroom and there needs to be more near proof, trash containers.

Budget

BUDGET: How do you propose funding city government (including enterprise funds, electricity, water, etc.)?

I am definitely open to the suggestions of the local citizens.

School District

What’s your philosophy on school funding? Should we fund the Sitka School District to the maximum allowable by state law, or “the cap”?

So long as the children benefit with extra activities and supplies I am for it but if we fund more for overinflated salaries I am not for that.

Housing

What tangible actions can the Sitka Assembly take to ease Sitka’s housing crisis?

Open up more affordable land! Limit the Bed and Breakfast homes.

Policy

Describe one piece of legislation you would like to bring forward as an assembly member, and explain how you would fund it.
