A Sitka Grand Jury indicted a Juneau man on Thursday (9-4-25) for allegedly assaulting two men at a demonstration late last month in downtown Sitka.

Every Saturday for nearly two years, Sitka’s downtown roundabout has been the site of peaceful political demonstrations and counter-protests. On August 30, a fight broke out at the weekly protest that sent one man to the hospital.

Police say that around 12:30 pm, 19-year-old Pietr Dabaluz allegedly assaulted two pro-Trump protestors — Sitkans Steve Lee and Marshall Albertson. According to court documents, Dabaluz allegedly took an Israeli flag from Lee and hit him with it before engaging in an altercation with Albertson, breaking his nose. The assault was caught on video, and police responded, following multiple 911 calls.

On September 4, a Sitka Grand Jury indicted Dabaluz on two felony counts of assault and one count of robbery.

KCAW reached out to Dabaluz’s legal representation, who declined comment.
