Sitka man charged with taking a shot at trooper recruits

A Sitka man is facing felony charges for allegedly firing on a group of state trooper recruits as they were on an early-morning run. 54-year old Vicente G. Carlos was indicted on seven felony counts by a Sitka grand jury on Friday, October 19. He was apprehended by Sitka police after a high-speed chase -- with a rifle barrel pointed out of his truck window.

Governor Walker suspends campaign and backs Begich

Alaska Governor Bill Walker suspended his re-election campaign today and threw his support behind Democrat Mark Begich. Walker made the decision after talking with many Alaskans about whether he or Begich had a better chance against Dunleavy.
