Health Summit ’15 reaches 6-month mark

This year's Sitka Health Summit initiatives are at the 6-month mark. "Celebrate Katlian Street: A Vibrant Community" is working on finalizing its action list. Committee chair Paulette Moreno and member Amelia Gage say the group will dine on sockeye pie at 6:30 PM Wed Mar 25 at the Sheetka Kwaan Naa Kaheedi and share ideas. Robb Farmer, with the Sitka Youth Resource Project, is looking for a student intern to help develop a website that will serve as clearinghouse for youth services. Kid Laser’s debut album an odyssey via ‘Grunge Lit’

Kid Laser & the Dynamite Deal have just released their first album 'Machines and Monsters.' The Sitka-based band is a creative collaboration between Dan Olbrych (lead vocals, guitar), Cody Russell (lead guitar), Nate Monahan (bass), and Joey Stamps (drums). The album is classic Pacific NW garage rock -- but harnessed to the Homeric tradition. Seven Seas, Clean Seas: Wearable Art 2015

At the 7th Annual Wearable Arts Show this past Saturday (3-7-15), sixty models walked the runway. Some donned their own design, while others modeled on behalf of artists and designers unseen. 76-year-old Bill Foster did a disco covered in political brochures, while 7-month-old Noah Apathy was covered in K-cups to recreate the scales of a carp.
