Thirty-three years ago today, March 6, 1982, Raven Radio KCAW signed on as your community radio station. And it all started with a lone voice, cast out in to space in the hope that someone - anyone - was listening. Thank you to all our listeners, from Yakutat to Port Alexander, Sitka to Kake, Pelican, Elfin Cove, Tenakee, and Angoon, who keep Raven Radio thriving.

Kake, Angoon, Klawock match up in 1A championships Friday

It’s a big night for basketball in Sitka, even though no Sitka team is playing. This week Mt. Edgecumbe has been hosting the Region V Basketball tournament for 1A schools, and the championship games are tonight. Meanwhile in the 3A tourney in Ketchikan, both title games will be played tomorrow (Sat 3-7-15).

Radio + Food is a collaboration between Sitka Story Lab and Kettleson Memorial Library and will give middle school and high school students the opportunity to interview someone about food - cooking it, hunting it, buying it, and eating it. Sitka, Mt. Edgecumbe to meet in rematch for conference title

The Sitka Wolves earned a re-match with the Mt. Edgecumbe Braves Friday, with the 3A Region V Basketball championship on the line. The Sitka Lady Wolves eliminated the Mt. Edgecumbe Lady Braves Thursday, and will challenge Petersburg for the title.

Campbell brings pen and ink art to schools

Taking pen and ink to paper, artist Norm Campbell brings Alaska's natural world to life. Campbell recently completed a two week class at Keet Gooshi Heen Elementary School on the art of "invented landscapes." His class is a part of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp's "Artists in the Schools" residencies.

Cirque du Pluie is coming to Sitka!

Frances Donohoe and Trisha Bessert share stories about combining forces to create Cirque du Pluie, the new circus program at the Hames Center. The two instructors talk about the planned expansion of the pool room for circus classes, which in the future will include juggling, aerial trapeze, and adult gymnastics. Downloadable audio.

Top-seeded Wolves lose opener to MEHS Braves

Like the Lady Wolves, the Sitka High boys yesterday (Wed 3-4-15) lost their first game of the Region V Basketball tournament in Ketchikan, to Mt. Edgecumbe, 46-55.
