Brave Heart offers Valentine’s retreat for lost love

Someone who has lost a spouse or intimate partner may need help redefining Valentine's Day. This Saturday, Brave Heart Volunteers offers the first of four day-long retreats for widows and widowers. 10 AM to 5 PM Sat Feb 14 at the Starrigavan Cabin. Grammy-winning violinist joins Sitka Jazz Fest

Violinist Mads Tolling is in town for the Sitka Jazz Fest, which runs February 5 - 7th and features concerts with guest musicians and local jazz groups alike. Tolling grew up in Denmark and discovered jazz as a teenager. His rose to prominence with the adventurous Turtle Island String Quartet, which won two Grammy awards for Best Classical Crossover Album. Tolling will be performing Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm at the Performing Arts Center. Downloadable audio.
