Fault at switchyard cuts power across Sitka

Due to a fault in the Blue Lake switchyard, all of Sitka lost power this afternoon at approximately 1:40 PM. Powerhouse technicians are currently re-energizing the grid, and estimate that electric service will be restored throughout the community by 2:30. Once power is back up, they’ll investigate the cause of the outage.

Blatchley set for ‘Discover Your Potential’ week

During Discovery Week (Feb 16 - 19), Blatchley students choose from among 78 classes far, far outside of the normal academic curriculum: Everything from cooking-with-bacon classes to sea kayaking and traditional carving and story telling. Mural brings a touch of home, to 400+ students

A new mural was unveiled at Mt. Edgecumbe High School last week, bringing a splash of color to the white dormitory walls that house nearly 400 students from across the state. The mural was painted by a local artist and designed by students, as part of an effort to make the state-run boarding school feel more like home.

Studio Xeno’s New Light!

Since Studio Xeno was added to the downstairs of the Cable House, the plan has been to put in an "On Air" light to indicate when someone was recording inside. We're excited to say our light is now in place above the door to the studio!
