Dear friends and neighbors, my name is Ellen Daly, and I’m speaking to you today as a member of the Sitka Health Summit Coalition. As Planning Day 2014 approaches, the Summit invites you to consider what community health and wellness means to you.
Lillian Feldpausch is one of five candidates running for two open seats on the Sitka Assembly. The municipal election is Tuesday, October 7. My husband and I chose Sitka because it is a small, safe, rural community surrounded by incredible beauty that afforded great opportunities for my whole family.
Sitka School Board candidates Tim Fulton and Tom Conley took listener questions for 90-minutes Tuesday evening (9-30-14). With only two veteran candidates running for two open seats, the discussion focused more on the immediate issues facing the district rather than policy differences.

On October 7th, the citizens of Sitka will have the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights by selecting a new mayor. There are two choices on the ballot this year; the incumbent Mayor Mim McConnell, and myself, Orion Hughes-Knowles. I am extremely excited to be involved in this election, especially against such a worthy opponent.

Over the last couple of days, our translator communities have had intermittent signal outages. With help from our engineers, we've located the problem and it should be up through the night, but possibly intermittent! Tomorrow engineers will swap out another piece of equipment. That will take the signal off the air for 1/2 hour or so, but should fix this issue for good.
