Allen considered, dropped from administrator short list

The Sitka assembly was hoping to have narrowed its list to three finalists for city administrator by this time in the hiring process, but instead has four. Only one of the finalists, Mark Gorman, is local. A debate over whether another local candidate, Rob Allen, should be added to the finalists list pushed a Wednesday afternoon (8-7-13) meeting into the late evening.

Gorman tops short list of administrator candidates

Following a second round of interviews yesterday afternoon and evening, the Sitka Assembly decided to invite former SEARHC vice-president Mark Gorman, Pamela Caskie, Jim Pascale, and Cynthia Gubatayao to advance to a final round of in-person interviews. Gorman was selected by five of the seven assembly members for further consideration. Caskie, Pascale, and Gubatayao were each selected by four members.

Proposed ‘administrative team’ challenged during interviews

Two administrator candidates who have proposed managing Sitka as a team offered a rigorous defense of their idea Tuesday afternoon (8-6-13). Rob Allen and Robin Sherman -- a husband-and-wife duo with close ties to Sitka -- were interviewed by the Assembly, along with four other individual candidates. Four more semi-finalists were scheduled for interviews this evening. (Note: Following the second round of semi-finalist interviews, the assembly narrowed its short list to four candidates. Cancer & Diabetes Awareness fundraiser not just for golfers

Maybelle Filler, with the Sitka Women's Golf League, and Sarah Blue outline plans for a co-ed golf tournament, auction, and balloon launch on Sun Aug 18 at the Sea Mountain Golf Course. The event is a fundraiser for the Sitka Cancer Survivors and Sitka Community Hospital Diabetes program.
