All over Alaska, people have been arguing for the removal of statues of European colonists because they represent a painful history of colonization for Alaska’s Native communities. Sitka police arrest suspect in attempted bank robbery

At around 10 a.m. this morning, a 32-year-old man walked into Alps Federal Credit Union on Halibut Point Rd. with what appeared to the tellers to be a firearm, according to Sitka Police Department Executive Assistant and Public Information Officer Serena Wild.
