Katie Niedermeyer is a volunteer with this year’s Boys Run I toowú klatseen 5K planning committee. She joined coach Johnny Elliot and runners Garrett and Kayden with KCAW’s Erin Fulton for the morning interview to get the word out about the program’s upcoming 5K on December 10. Listen here:

Shasta Smith and Carolyn Heuer talk about the 12th running of the Medvejie Solstice Half-Marathon, happening this Saturday, June 17 at 9am. The race is $40 per person, but offers 5 and 10K options for $20 and $30 respectively. All proceeds will be going to Sitka High‘s Track and Cross Country teams.

Pre-registration opens Friday, June 16 at 4pm in the Sitka High Commons and race day registration opens at 8:15 am at the course. The First 75 entrants get an event t-shirt.

Participants will start and finish at the Herring Cove parking lot in a hilly, but scenic, route that runs along Silver Bay in the Sitka Sound .
